The Pointe

The Pointe Performing Arts Academy is designed to train dancers and performers in a positive structured environment. The central philosophy of The Pointe is to offer the best training available to each and every student, whether he or she desires to pursue a professional career or not. Our goal is to have each student understand the powerful impact and influence the performing arts can have in their lives by teaching them coordination, technique, artistry, self-expression, self-esteem, and responsibility. The Pointe offers performing companies for all abilities and a choice in your level of time commitment.

What Makes the Pointe Different?

  • Current curriculum to maximize training in all genres.  Our teachers are qualified:  Masters Degrees, Bachelors Degrees, Professional Experience.  Certifications.  We have teachers certified in Pilates and Acrobatic Arts.

  • Successful and fun Touring, Elite, Ballet and Hip Hop Companies.  Our 2016-2017 Companies have had opportunities to perform with professional companies as well as compete at the highest level.  We have National Winners in teams and individuals.

Ballet Division

  • Our Studio Director, Candice Taylor, is a former professional ballet dancer and has a Master’s of Fine Arts from the University of Utah.  We have a curriculum based on the best of Vaganova, RAD and Balanchine training of the teachers.  We provide a professional ballet school experience with a nurturing atmosphere.  This May, we will produce Don Quixote for our company dancers and this past February our dancers competed in YAGP with classical variations and contemporary solos with award winning results.

    Touring and Elite Companies

  • Companies train with hand-picked world-class choreographers in a wide variety of genres from contemporary to hip hop and everything in between.

  • We believe in training our dancers to be great technicians, artists and movers.  Our company dancers will be trained to pursue professional careers if they wish, and have so much fun while they are training.
  • Participate in non-competitive community and benefit performances.  This year we have SALT join us in an effort to bring more opportunities to dancers in the professional realm.  PAN will be our first collaboration and will be performed in July.

  • Our directors work hard to choose conventions and competitions which provide great education as well as competition.  We look for great judging and fantastic teaching for our dancers.

  • Summer workshops and non-competitive tours.  In June, our Junior, Teen and Senior Touring Companies will visit California to attend Millennium Dance and take classes in Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary from current working dance professionals.  Our dancers will also take in Disneyland and the beach.

Children’s Division

  • Introduces ages 3-7 to creative movement, imagination, gross motor skills, and musicality.  We offer combination classes with Ballet and Tap, Ballet and Jazz, Ballet and Tumbling, and Jazz and Tap.  Our classes are fun as well as educational.  Our teachers are very experienced in working with young children–making dance a joy!

  • Focuses on fundamentals of technique for the development of strength, flexibility, control, and balance.

  • Prepares students for more intense training in all genres of dance.

Teen/Adult Division

  • Designed for dancers in all levels who desire to enjoy the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of dance without the full commitment of intense training found in the other tracks.  We offer Pre-Company curriculum in Ballet and Jazz which focus on training and developing dance performers.  Our Pre-Company classes are offered for Pre-Teen ages 9-11 and Teen ages 12+.  These classes are a great compliment to any dancer who is on a junior high or high school dance or drill team.  Please see our front desk for details.

    Open Division

  • Designed for those who wish to create their own emphasis of study.

  • All classes are available for open enrollment

  • Placement will be required for some of our open classes.
